Funkadelic Food Shack

This might be the wildest, most bizarre place on my list, in all the best ways. At first glance you'd probably say "really, this place made the cut?" I get it, and I probably never would have stopped if it hadn't been recommended to me. Which is exactly why I'm passing it along to you.

Tucked into the Ocean Grove RV Resort on Anastasia Island, Funkadelic started as a food truck and grew into a brick and mortar without losing an ounce of personality. The atmosphere is a blast, hand painted artwork, a great bar, a poolside setting, and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The food is genuinely fantastic, and here's a tip, their website shows a smaller menu than what they actually have, so don't judge it by what's online. It's creative, scratch made comfort food, burgers, a fan favorite lump crab grilled cheese, tacos, and shareable bites. I had a burger last time I was in and loved it. There are solid vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options too, and the weekend brunch is worth planning around.

Best part, with all of this, everything still feels reasonably priced. Bring the kids, bring the dog, grab a drink, and let this one surprise you the way it surprised me.
