Forgotten Tonic
Forgotten Tonic is tucked away on Aviles Street, the oldest street in the country, just off the main drag downtown. It's a cozy little spot in the arts district, and it's easy to walk right past, which is part of what makes it feel like a find.
The cocktails are what put this place on the map. They've won awards for them and get voted the best bar on Aviles, and there's a deep wine list to go with it. The food keeps up too. It's New American with global influences, and the apps alone are worth the trip, people rave about the meatballs and the arancini. There's seating inside and plenty out, so you can enjoy the St. Augustine weather.
My favorite cocktail is the Old Fashioned. It's a simple drink, which is exactly why I judge a bar by how well they make one, and the bartenders here are true mixologists. If you're looking for a classy spot for date night or just a really good cocktail, Forgotten Tonic is a must.
